Just a quick request for all of you to keep praying for Elyse. It is so easy to take her good health for granted. She seems so much like a "normal baby" that we forget about her heart block and how blessed we are that she is doing so well.
We went to the pediatrician yesterday and she was a bit concerned that Elyse was not gaining more weight that she had been gaining. She checked her heart rate and it was 52, which is a bit lower than what it had been. After having a minor breakdown, I am much better now. We went to see Dr. Cottrill, the cardiologist this morning, who assured me that she was not concerned about anything. She did the EKG and echocardiogram and saw nothing unusual. The fact about her heart rate being 52 is that, like all of our heart rates, it fluctuates. When she is calm, it is lower. When she is worked up, it is higher. She was extremely calm yesterday and eating, when they measured it at 52. Dr. Cottrill said she was not concerned about Elyse's weight being 9 lbs. because she was only 5 lbs, 1 oz when she was born. She said she is well on her way to doubling her birth weight by 6 months, which is what they want. She did put us on a "high calorie" diet to "fatten her up a little" and make our pediatrician happy :-), which means we give her just a 1/2 tsp more formula in each bottle.
I feel much better after our appointment today. Dr. Cottrill IS what Dr. Lear called, "the God of cardiology" and if she's not worried, then I won't be. She said she would see Elyse back in 2 months and my response was, "we already have an appt. set up for next month, can we just keep that?" :-) She laughed and agreed to it if would make me feel better.
Again, please keep praying for our little "Lysee", which her daddy nicknamed her. :-) The Lord has taken such good care of her and I know He will continue to do so. Thank you for always praying for our little miracle girl!

still praying daily for all of you! Stay strong and give her lots of kisses for me. Love you all 3, Aunt Heather
I think about you often and do say a little prayer but maybe have been more lax lately because of her good health. Will increase the prayers. Sounds like she is going to be little like her mama! Take care and just keep doing a great job like you have been.
